My trip to Bletchley Park was a particularly special one, being in the field of cybersecurity. Bletchley Park was the home of the codebreakers during World War II and where significant breakthroughs in computing occurred at a time when computing was an obscure field. Most notably were the contributions of Alan Turing whose work on computational math allowed the codebreakers to more quickly and easily crack the codes the Germans used with the Enigma machines. As you can see from the photos, these codebreakers worked in sparce conditions, but established a bit of a comradery you’ll find in the movie, The Imitation Game.
